Candle Wax
Candle wax is obviously the most important element of a candle. However, there are several different types of wax that can be used for candle making. The type of wax used can have an effect on the way the candle burns.
Paraffin is a commonly used candle wax. This material is a byproduct that occurs during petroleum refining and is used in many different types of modern candles. Paraffin is biodegradable and is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for use in food, which means it is completely non-toxic.
Other types of candle wax are commonly made from plants. Soy wax is a popular type of plant wax that is commonly used in the candle making process. Other plant waxes include palm and carnuba.
