Candle Wicks
Candle wicks are an essential part of how a candle works. The wick acts as a sort of fuel delivery system, drawing the melted wax to the flame. The flame consumes the wax, which melts more wax, and the cycle continues.
The size of wick determines how much fuel is burned. Large candle wicks will provide a much larger fuel source for the flame, with smaller wicks having the opposite effect. This is an important aspect to remember, as a large flame will tend to flare and emit smoke.
Candle wicks are made from fibers that have been bundled together. The type of fiber, as well as the bundling technique, can vary quite a bit. Furthermore, the right type of wick to use depends largely on the type of wax used to make the candle.
