Pilar Candle

A pillar candle is generally the largest of any candle you’d find in a store. They get their name from the pillar-like form they usually take. They range in sizes, but are almost always large enough to stand alone, without the use of a candle holder.

A pillar candle is usually placed on a plate, or some other flat surface. It is usually recommended that something be place between the candle and whatever it is sitting on in order to keep melted wax from attaching itself to furniture. These candles are commonly placed on the mantle of a fireplace, or on a backyard patio.

A large pillar candle can often have more than one wick. Many of these candles can be 4-6 inches in diameter, and when more than one wick is used they will produce an extraordinary light. Three-wick designs tend to be the most common for these large candles.
